Wood Expo - Learn to Make a Kubb Set

Recommended for ages 8+. Pre-registration required. $200 value, FREE!

Service Description

WHAT YOU WILL MAKE: Kubb is a 1000 year old lawn game dating back to the Vikings that all ages can play, pretty easy to learn, a bit like horseshoes with a few more fun twists and made with elegant wood blocks and batons. Can be played on grass, gravel, beach or even snow. Made with locally harvested wood. Participants can choose between 'classic Scandinavian style' or 'Sunshine Coast original' designed by TLC owner Alicia LaValle. You can also mix and match and select finishing details to make the Kubb set an original artwork of your own. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: Miter Saw, Drill press, Sander, Electric Wood Brander and drill/driver. OPTIONAL: learn to finish your wood with beeswax/walnut oil "varnish" (food grade, child friendly). SPECIAL NEWS: This workshop is FREE to WoodExpo2021 visitors thanks to generous sponsorship from the Sunshine Coast Community Forest (SCCF). CLASS AND REGISTRATION DETAILS: This is a 1 hour long class for up to 4 people. Each registration is for a 2 person team. A team can be 2 adults, or 1 adult + 1 child (8 years or above). Each team will go home with a complete Kubb game set they made in the workshop. (For example: If you wish to have a group of 4 in the same class please select "2 participants" when booking).
